Touch/Tact

A device that combines the advantages of a touch sensitive surface with the instant tactile feedback of physical controls.

The main elements are:

• Fully functioning PC
• Large SVGA laptop screen
• Touchscreen interface
• Physical controls (push buttons, rotary potentiometers and linear faders)
• Microcontroller based interface to allow the physical controls to interact with the computer using the MIDI protocol

The electronics are housed in a tough 5251 aluminium case, lasercut and CNC folded. A rear folding support ensures that the viewing angle is comfortable for use whilst standing.
All physical controls are mounted on custom made printed circuit boards, designed using CAD software and manufactured by a subcontractor.
